photo: tree buds to teach English vocabulary about spring allergies

Tree buds soon to bloom and cause spring allergies to a lot of people.  😐

It’s late March; it’s still chilly out, but my nose is beginning to run, and I can feel my sinuses starting to get irritated, so I checked out the young trees in front of our building, and sure enough, I can see the flower buds starting to emerge. Soon they will be in bloom and produce tons of pollen, which will wreak havoc on my sinuses. 😐

  • SURE ENOUGH – just as I thought
  • EMERGE – come out
  • TONS – a lot
  • WREAK HAVOC – cause a lot of trouble or damage

Do you get spring allergies? I’m allergic to tree pollen, which is the first kind to come out in the spring. I have a feeling this year is going to be rough; I hope I’m wrong. The good news is it’s usually over by mid May.

If you get allergies, here are some things you might say when they start bothering you in the spring:

  1. I have hay fever.
  2. I’m allergic to pollen
  3. My nose is running.
  4. I have a runny nose.
  5. My eyes are watery and itchy.
  6. I have itchy, watery eyes.
  7. I can’t stop sneezing.
  8. I’m taking allergy meds.

If you suffer from allergies, I’m with you. Let’s hope allergy season is not so bad this year. The good news is warmer weather is on its way and the allergies will eventually end.

  • I’M WITH YOU – I understand; I relate
  • ON ITS WAY – arriving soon

Have a nice spring, everyone!
