Photo to teach vocabulary: They say "the early bird gets the worm," but does that mean night owls lose out on everything? :-|

They say “the early bird gets the worm.” What does that leave night owls like me? Do we lose out on things? 😐 What do you think?

People are usually either a night owl or an early bird. If you love to stay up until the wee hours of the morning, you are definitely a night owl. On the other hand, if you prefer to hit the sack early and get up early the next day, you can call yourself an early bird or a morning person.

  • A NIGHT OWL – a person who enjoys staying up late at night
  • AN EARLY BIRD/MORNING PERSON – a person who enjoys waking up early
  • WEE HOURS OF THE MORNING – very early morning, around 3 or 4 a.m.
  • HIT THE SACK – go to bed

Me? I am definitely a night owl. I enjoy staying up late until two or three in the morning, and I don’t like getting up early at all. This is challenging during the week, when I have to get up around 6:30 a.m. to get ready for work. I usually snooze the alarm several times before I finally get out of bed. At night, however, I’m wide awake after midnight even when I’m so worn out I could fall asleep the second my head hits the pillow.

  • SNOOZE THE ALARM – silence the alarm for a short time
  • WORN OUT – exhausted; very tired
  • THE SECOND – the moment

What about you? Are you a night owl or an early bird? You can comment below or share on Facebook or on Twitter.

Thanks for reading! I hope you found this useful.

Until next time.
